Since the workshops were active for
about a century much of the great old machinery was replaced long ago.
As a consolation, here are a few pictures of old pictures.

A crop of the disc sander in the previous photo. A very beefy
construction for a what looks to be only a 24" disc.

When I commented that this was a decent sized lathe our guide told me
about how four such beasts were built on site to assist with the
Workshops part in war production. It appears that the tail stock makes
a
second smaller headstock for, um, light work?

The workshops were not only one of a number of maintenance shops, they
also built locomotives and other rolling stock.
