Other rail museums I have been to have
been very focussed on the
locomotives and other rolling stock. There is so much stuff and other
areas of interest at this museum that you tend to forget it has quite a
rolling stock collection. I don't cover half of it in my pictures but
here are a few more of locomotives.

This is the engine used the Harry Potter movie. Not the best story -
the engine was gutted and modified to look like an English train. When
the move production was done with it, it was given to the museum who
don't seem to quite know what to do
with it.
Update: the above text I wrote didn't make sense to me since this loco
doesn't look much like the Hogwart's Express from the movie. David
Mews, curator of the museum provided this information in response to an
enquiry to me:
"The locomotive is a Queensland Railways C17 Class 4-8-0 No.988. It was
built by Walkers Ltd, Maryborough, Qld B/No. 525 of 1952. No.988
entered service in June 1952 and was withdrawn in November 1969. It was
“preserved” in a park near Cairns railway station but subsequently
removed to storage due to severe deterioration and the redevelopment of
the site. Queensland Railways leased it to Warner Bros, Movieworld on
the Gold Coast in 2001. They rebuilt it to look like a Hogwart’s loco
for use as a backdrop for a Harry Potter ride at the Movieworld Theme
Park. The locomotive was transferred to the workshops in 2008 following
a replacement for the Harry Potter ride."
