Made in Taiwan. Left picture
is as purchased, right is after fixing it up. Seems to be of late 70's
vintage, is very heavy and of better quality than the newer import
machines I have seen. Motor vibration
and the mediocre chuck are its main issues but it will bore holes in
wood
just fine until something fantastic comes along.
It was quite enjoyable fixing up this machines many little issues: tapped out the lever hub, turned new handles and epoxied them in place; fabricated a depth stop locking piece from steel to replace the original nylon one that had failed; adjusted table raising lever so it worked; replaced motor bearings and wiring box; tapped and fitted new screws for the capacitor hump to replace the incorrect self tappers; cleaned hardened grease and sawdust mixture from the quill assembly; unseized pivot for centre pulley; new belts; lube and a spit shine.
