Hyco 12" band saw. I came into this band saw shortly after
getting
my Paul Call one. Also Australian made. Its a pretty serious machine
for
such a small saw. The base is case iron and far heavier than it needs
to
be. The table and trunion are also cast iron. Wheels and guards appear
to be pot metal. There is a small cast iron fence not shown in the
picture.
The machine appears bigger than it is - the bottom half of the stand is
missing. There is a repairable crack in the trunion and a broken lug
off
the top guard, otherwise it should be a straightforward rebuild. I
won't
be using the original colour.
The scan show left is from 1955 dealer catalogue - by 1966 it has been replaced by other brand saws of lesser quality. I suspect that Hyco was purchased by or became Woodfast, since some 1955 Hyco machines appear identical to 1966 Woodfast machines.

I got half way through rebuilding this machine, decided I wasn't having
a good time, loosely assembled it and managed to sell it looking like
this
without actually losing any money on it.
